Run DND Update!

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Every so often, we want to update you on progress in the production of Run DND, a feature-length documentary film about the tenure of the 106th Mayor of the City of New York, and the first African-American to hold that office – David N. This has been a tremendous year for the project – starting with the capacity-crowd celebration of the 90th birthday of Mayor Dinkins at Gracie Mansion in 2017 hosted by Mayor Bill deBlasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray, we have made significant progress toward achieving our financial and filmmaking goals:

• Dozens more interviews with significant political and community leaders, journalists, members of the Dinkins and other mayoral administrations, and scholars have been filmed;
• An archivist/researcher has been working to help supplement the narrative with archival footage and other materials;
• Post-production has begun with a talented editor who has started to assemble the film;
• Mayor Dinkins’ appearances have been filmed at a number of events and occasions to include his current very active life today;
• Several successful fundraising events as well as spontaneous donations of time and resources have brought us more than a third of the way to our $550,000 goal; and
• We’ve also found significant support in the filmmaking community – film industry professionals love the project and have not only encouraged us but also offered their time and services.

In short, a stellar year – made possible by your generosity and support. Thank you very much indeed.
