Mayor Dinkins celebrated his 91st birthday on July 10, 2018 with his family. On July 16, a few of his children as the Mayor fondly calls his former staff, feted the Mayor at Fresco by Scotto restaurant. Among the celebrants were Laura Hart (director of the soon to be completed documentary about the 106th Mayor of New York City), Gale Brewer (current Manhattan Borough President and former Director of Mayor Dinkins' federal office), Mark Benoit (former Mayor Dinkins' Scheduler), Herbert Block (former Mayor Dinkins' Liaison to the Jewish Community), and former speechwriters of said Mayor Dinkins Nick Balamaci and Anita Kawatra.
